Job Description:
SUMMARY
Reporting to the COO, the IT Director will play a critical role in
leading the company's technology environment and the necessary
growth of the IT department. The role requires strong experience in
IT Leadership, enablement of organizational business needs with
technology solutions, Data Warehouse design/build, Data Governance,
System Integration, Enterprise Document Management, Digital
Transformation, and Contractor/Vendor Management.
The IT Director focuses on managing the organization's day-to-day
IT operations, infrastructure, and systems. This role is tactical
and operational, ensuring the smooth functioning of the company's
technology environment.
The successful candidate for this role must have an attitude of
servant leadership to build trust between peers, support commitment
to the company, and encourage teamwork while proactively pursuing
opportunities to maximize the value of company assets consistent
with the company's current strategy and goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
IT Operations Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the IT department, including
systems, networks, and applications, in partnership with external
providers.
- Ensure the performance, reliability, and scalability of IT
infrastructure.
- Manage IT service delivery and support to maintain high user
satisfaction.
- Recruit, train, and mentor IT staff to maintain a skilled and
motivated workforce.
- Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and accountability
for team members.
Vendor Budget Management
- Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with IT vendors
and service providers.
- Create and oversee the IT department's budget, ensuring cost
efficiency and ROI.
- Monitor spending and optimize technology investments.
Data Management and Analytics
- Lead and provide guidance for upcoming Data Warehouse
Implementation.
- Oversee data storage, management, and governance
processes.
- Ensure the availability, accuracy, and security of
organizational data.
- Utilize analytics to provide actionable insights for business
decision-making.
IT Governance & Policy Development
- Establish and enforce IT policies, procedures, and
standards.
- Ensure IT initiatives comply with organizational and industry
standards.
- Maintain transparency in IT operations and communicate
effectively with stakeholders.
- Establish and enforce cybersecurity protocols and policies.
Technology Planning & Implementation
- Assess and upgrade existing technology systems to meet evolving
business needs.
- Ensure smooth implementation and integration of new
technologies across departments.
- Maintain a roadmap for future IT upgrades and initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Enterprise Architecture Knowledge: Ensuring technology
architecture aligns with business processes and objectives.
Balancing innovation with legacy system management. Proficiency in
WolfePak accounting software.
- Project and Portfolio Management: Managing large-scale IT
projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
Prioritizing IT initiatives based on business value. Experience in
IT budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline
management.
- IT Infrastructure Management: Overseeing networks, data
centers, cloud solutions, and systems integration. Ensuring high
availability, scalability, and reliability of IT infrastructure.
Expertise in managing cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google
Cloud).
- Data Management and Analytics: Guiding the organization through
the design and implementation of data related efforts (MDM, Data
Warehouse, DQ). Overseeing data governance, storage, and analysis
frameworks. Using analytics tools to provide insights that drive
business decisions.
- Cybersecurity Expertise: Implementing advanced security
protocols and managing risks. Staying updated on cybersecurity
trends and threats. Understanding of firewalls, intrusion
detection/prevention systems, and endpoint security solutions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science
or related field.
- Minimum 10 years experience within Information
Technology.
- Minimum 5+ years of IT management experience.
- Preferred experience: Minimum 5+ years experience in Upstream
Oil & Gas / Exploration & Production (E&P).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive knowledge of the upstream oil and gas industry,
including exploration, production, and technology challenges unique
to the sector.
- Familiarity with industry-specific software and technology,
risk management practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability
to inspire and motivate a support team of vendors.
- Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities that
align IT initiatives with the overall business strategy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability
to effectively engage with executive leadership, investors,
stakeholders, and vendors.
