You may also want to visit our News & Advice page to stay up to date with other resources that can help you find what you are looking for Job_Posting_Title Communications Content Manager Hiring_Department Lyndon B Johnson School of Public Affairs Position_Open_To All Applicants Weekly_Scheduled_Hours 40 FLSA_Status Exempt Earliest_Start_Date Aug 31, 2019 Position_Duration Expected to Continue Until Aug 31, 2020 Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS Job_Description To develop written content for external audiences using multiple channels in collaboration with the communications, research, and policy teams for a new national prenatal-to-three policy-research exchange housed in the LBJ School of Public Affairs. (Writing samples will be requested.) Job_Details General Notes This is a full-time, temporary position ending 8/31/2020 with the possibility of continued employment depending on business need and continuation of funding. Responsibilities * Develop meaningful and impactful short, medium, and long format written content for multiple communication channels and audiences * Write original content and adapt existing content for print materials, op-eds, white papers, email campaigns, website, social media, and other needs * Partner with research and policy teams, as well as other communication team members, to identify and develop new content strategies and opportunities * Ensure written content is tailored for maximum effectiveness for each channel in collaboration with communications director and team * Continuously build expertise in early childhood, family policy, and the prenatal-to-three period * Provide editorial support to colleagues as needed * Contribute to the development of annual Roadmap reports and additional tools * Support marketing and communication needs for special events and conferences Required_Qualifications * Basic understanding of research and public policy * Excellent writing skills, including the ability to synthesize complex concepts clearly and concisely as well as communicate sensitive topics effectively * Ability to discern and justify the appropriate messages for different lengths and formats * Experience in writing content of varying lengths (e.g. social media to news post to 4 page white paper) * Experience with business-to-business level writing * Excellent proofreading and copy editing abilities with strong attention to detail * Excellent project management and organizational skills * Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment * Ability to come up to speed on new topics quickly, multi-task effectively, and produce high-quality work under time constraints * Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing timelines and circumstances when needed * Master s degree and three years of related experience, or Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience, in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Policy or a related field. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred_Qualifications * Experience with a web content management system (ex. Wordpress, Drupal) * Strong evidence of successful media placement of op-eds Salary Range $48,000 + depending on qualifications Working Conditions * May work around standard office conditions. * Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. * Use of manual dexterity.
