Job Summary The Echo Sonographer performs a variety of routine echocardiograms including, but not limited to, Transthoracic Echocardiogram or TTE, with Color, Spectral Doppler and 2-D imaging, Transesophageal Echocardiogram TEE, Stress Echocardiogram or Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram, TTE with bubbles, TTE with contrast and advanced TTE such as TTE with 3D imaging, for both inpatient and outpatient studies. Locates, evaluates and records pertinent anatomical, pathological and functional data while using different systems of ultrasound equipment. Transmits exams, processes preliminary technical data in designated interpreting system, and communicates any significant findings to the attending reading physician. Education Non-Registered Echo Tech Education Type Program of Study Required/Preferred High School Diploma N/A Required Active credential or license in a health-related field Allied Heath educations include, but are not limited to, diagnostic medical sonographer, radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and registered nurse. Required Registered Echo Tech Education Type Program of Study Required/Preferred High School Diploma N/A Required ARDMS or CCI Credential Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Required Experience Non-Registered Echo Tech Number of Years Type of Experience Required/Preferred 2 Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Preferred Registered Echo Tech Number of Years Type of Experience Required/Preferred 2 Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Preferred Certification & Licensures Non-Registered Echo Tech Type Required/Preferred Must hold an active credential or license in a health-related field. Required Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) Required Registered Echo Tech Type Required/Preferred Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Certification Required Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) Required Must obtain within ninety (90) days of hire
